Gray Mare Preschool Philosophy – Learning Through Play
Since its beginning in 1955, Gray Mare has tailored its educational program around the needs of the children. The curriculum is developmentally appropriate, guiding each child into the world outside the home.
Learning is child’s play. A child does not play to waste time; a child plays to discover, experiment, touch, talk, try new things, pretend, think, ask questions, share and do.
Education is a life-long journey. Gray Mare children are guided through their early years to enrich and accentuate positive learning experiences. Social values, academic skill development, self respect & self-esteem building, and an appreciation of friends, teachers and family are the main focus of the Gray Mare curriculum.
Each activity has an educational purpose. Children develop skills needed for future school success – sitting, listening, taking turns, questioning, sharing, waiting, accepting differences in friends. These skills combined with academic readiness provide a strong base as children enter kindergarten and move up the school ladder.

Gray Mare Preschool, Inc. is licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services. We strictly observe all laws and
regulations governing our preschool and its operation, and we are supervised by a licensing representative from the Department of
Health and Family Services.
